Everyday Health
Initiative

A student-led movement getting communities across British Columbia moving, eating well, and looking out for one another — one everyday habit at a time.

Everyday Health Initiative (EHI) is a student-founded community health project based in British Columbia. We organize free events and build free resources that make moving more, eating better, and taking care of yourself feel doable — not intimidating — for people of every age.

Our mission

We believe good health shouldn't depend on your postal code, your budget, or how much you already know. So we bring it to the trailhead, the market stall, and the classroom — free, hands-on, and built with the community we serve.

What we focus on

Three everyday pillars

Nourish

Fresh-food access and simple nutrition know-how, at markets and in schools.

Connect

Volunteers, schools and local businesses working on this together, in person.

Educate

Plain-language guides and zines on the habits that add up over a lifetime.

About us

Students who decided
to just start.

EHI began as a small group project and grew into a registered community initiative — still run by the students who started it.

Our mission

Health that meets you where you already are.

We believe good health shouldn't depend on your postal code, your budget, or how much you already know.

Everyday Health Initiative started in 2026 with a simple observation: the people around us wanted to move more, eat better and feel better — they just needed a reason, a resource, or a group to do it with. So we started organizing walks. We started printing guides. We started showing up at markets with a table and a clipboard. What began as one weekend event has grown into an ongoing project with a real network of schools, sponsors and volunteers behind it — and we're just getting started.

What happened

Walkers of all ages met at the Blacktail Picnic Shelter at Aldergrove Regional Park for a 10am community walk along the park's forested trail network. Registration was free and open to everyone — walkers, team captains and donors all pitched in toward a shared fundraising goal, with every dollar going to Breakfast Club of Canada's school meal programs. The event ran under a Metro Vancouver Regional Parks special event permit (#R13612), with a full safety plan, on-site first aid contact, and clearly marked trail hazards accounted for ahead of time.
